NEW ONLINE SERIES BEGINNING JANUARY 8

As we welcome in the New Year there are so many things we may want to invite into our lives - abundant health, joy, inner peace, loving relationships, meaningful engagement, financial stability, comfortable shelter, nourishing food, healthy communities, and so much more.

As we age, we become increasingly aware of how our health and wellbeing are foundational to all of our hopes and dreams.  When we feel at ease, healthy, and balanced, we also feel more able to create and contribute to the world we want.  We increase our optimism, our resilience, and our capacity to be present with each moment. Mindful yoga and movement can play an important role in our personal journey.

There are so many predictors of healthy aging.  In his book Breath, James Nestor talks about the importance of our lung size and lung capacity.  In The Upside of Stress, Dr. Kelly McGonigal teaches us how to embrace stress and thrive.  In the British Journal of Sports Medicine, it is shown how muscle strength can significantly indicate an individual's ability to cope with and protect against age-related diseases and disabilities. Dr. Zach Bush advocates a recipe composed of healthy life style choices that include eating seasonally and locally, connecting with nature, supporting our microbiome, hydrating, and sharing food in community.  Through a myriad of teachings we can learn how to be mindful, live more authentically, and increase self awareness. In our practice, we often discover there are valuable overlaps in how we move and breathe, rest and eat, that support and maximize the benefits to our well being.

Chair Yoga and Qi Gong sessions are designed to support our experience of all of the above. They are excellent and accessible ways for all individuals, including older adults, individuals coping with flexibility or balance issues, or for those recuperating from joint issues or chronic pain to  manage stress, reduce inflammation, cultivate joy, enhance breath, strengthen muscles, and improve circulation of qi and blood. Practice also reduces anxiety, helps lower blood pressure, protects joints, and builds strength and balance.  We experience improved physical, emotional, and spiritual health.

We’ll overlay breath work, mindfulness, bouncing (shaking medicine), and tapping with sitting and standing postures that will be challenging and ultimately relaxing.  We’ll experience each session simultaneously alone and online with others, which fosters commitment and inspiration.  With modifications and tips, each participant will meet their personal edge with confidence.  We’ll feel stronger, more fluid, and more at peace after each session.

“Through Dale’s classes, I have managed to improve my balance and concentration, and my doctor tells me that I am now one of his most flexible clients in my age group. What a fantastic feeling, both mentally and physically.”

Michael B.

"Thank you for another great class!  I love them."  Michelle P.

"This past Wednesday really struck a chord for me. I have been struggling with anger, impatience, frustration and general anxiety for weeks now. The session on Wednesday really helped me to see things more rationally and with more self compassion." Suzanne M.
