Yesterday I did two full Yin practices and a one to one coaching session that involved somatic breath work, guided relaxation, and Emotional Freedom Technique, or Tapping.

Last night, I slept from 9:30 through till 7:00 am!

I like to think of the yoga I share as a sincere opportunity to access our deepest tensions and holdings in the body, and allow them to soften and release in a way that supports our inner sense of balance and healing. I have taught Relaxation Response and Mindfulness for more than 30 years, and with the influence of training in other modalities like Traditional Chinese Medicine, Yoga Nidra, Reiki, Reflexology, EFT, Energetic Healing, and Shamanic Coaching my practices have evolved to encompass pieces of each.

Together we create a safe, self-honouring atmosphere and give ourselves permission to trust our innate body wisdom to guide us. Too often, today, we rush madly around and also internalize the many stresses and challenges of our time. Added to the collection of memories and emotions held in our deep tissues, this can result in feeling overwhelmed. anxious, sad/depressed, and exhausted, or experiencing things like body aches and immune suppression. A mindfulness practice, along with yin movement, breath work, and meditation, can make a huge difference to our daily lives, and I often hear after a class or a session that the beneficial effects continue on for several days, eventually leading to a long lasting state of wellbeing along with increased mobility and fluidity.

We deserve to take a little time for ourselves and to practice things that bring a sense of peace, harmony, and celebration into our lives.

This summer I am offering a series of 4 Yin classes at Wall Street Church beginning June 14, and Yoga in the Garden beginning June 19 (weather permitting). Practicing while directly connected to the earth, under the canopy of the sky, and with the background of gentle breezes and birdsong can be pretty special, so I hope you might join me.
