Sowing Seeds Now

As we move into the fall and season of harvest, we can see the fruits of our labours all around us. Lush gardens, local produce bountifully displayed at farmer's markets, dazzling bouquets of flowers, food to share, and pumpkins for the little ones to enjoy.
The question we must ask ourselves is "what seeds am I planting to enrich and nourish myself?" What can we do to grow a garden within us that holds all the qualities and experiences we want to bring into our lives? What can I do to support my physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well being in today's demanding and volatile world?
For me, my mindfulness practices, meditation, yoga, tribal belly dance, and Yoga Nidra give me the tools and nourishment I need to keep me in balance through every season.
Here is what one participant said this summer after she discovered Yoga in the Garden, a slow, mindful practice custom designed for everyone.

“This class changed what I thought Yoga was. It wasn’t what I expected it to be. For me it has been such a supportive practice for my spiritual journey as well as for my physical and mental health. The most surprising thing for me was that even after the very first session I felt so much better after class. My body, my joints, my muscles feel better for days after! I find the way you teach helps me understand and visualize what is happening to my body and what I am trying to accomplish with each pose. That makes me lean into it more.”
It is never too late to start nurturing your own garden. Just as the seasons change, we go through cycles of growth, rest, and ripening. Where do you want to feel growth? How can you practice mindfulness in a way that increases your ability to be at rest and at peace? What is ripening in you right now? In your life? What new seeds can you plant to reap the benefits not just right now but in coming months?
You are a beautiful garden that needs just a little self love and care to come into full fruition. I hope to see you at courses on line or in person this fall!
